Floor Lamp

The design of this floor lamp emerged from a maple wood veneer sample that was about to be discarded in an architecture office.

Its cylindrical shape and translucency made it a perfect candidate for a drum lamp shade.

A minimal, contrasting structure was made to carry it in the air. Hardwood member are arranged for stability and simple connections.

The veneer sits on cuts in the hardwood members.

The drum is kept open for a richer form naturally provided by the veneer as salvaged.

The lamp is designed for ease of assembly, repair, and recycling.
